Data protection, backups and disaster recovery

We back up the data your business runs on to a schedule, keep separate encrypted copies, test the restores, and write down the recovery plan.

Backups and business continuity

Automated backups

Backups run automatically on a set schedule, and every job is logged.

Disaster recovery

We write a disaster recovery plan that lists the restore steps, who does what, and what comes back first.

Data encryption

Data is encrypted with AES-256 in storage and in transit.

Point-in-time recovery

We restore data from a saved point before an accidental deletion or corruption happened.

How we set up disaster recovery

  1. 01

    Audit

We find the data you cannot work without and work out how fast it has to come back, your recovery time objective (RTO). We also check the business network connectivity a restore has to run over.

  2. 02

    Plan

We plan a mix of local copies for fast restores and cloud copies kept off site, coordinated with the managed IT and help desk support team that watches the systems day to day.

  3. 03

    Install

We install backup agents on every server and workstation.

  4. 04

    Test

We run restore drills to prove the data comes back, a check we repeat for every account on managed IT services.

How backups are stored and checked

We set up separate backup copies for hardware failure, deleted files, and attacks.

  • Immutable copies built to resist changes or deletion by an attacker on your network
  • Three copies on two kinds of media, with one off site (the 3-2-1 rule)
  • Backup jobs reviewed and restore tests recorded

Frequently asked questions

What is the 3-2-1 backup rule?

A common backup design keeps 3 copies of data on 2 media types, with 1 copy off site. Separating the copies reduces the chance that one failure affects them together.

How often are backups performed?

We set the backup schedule to match your recovery point objective (RPO), which is how much recent data you can afford to lose, often hourly for critical data and daily for full system images. Patient and appointment records make this schedule matter for data backup for medical and dental practices.

Can you recover from a ransomware attack?

Recovery depends on having a restore point the attack did not touch. We set up immutable storage built to resist changes by ransomware or your everyday accounts, then test restores from the saved recovery points.

Is my backup data encrypted?

Yes. All backup data is encrypted with AES-256 before it leaves your building and stays encrypted in cloud storage.
